As churches gather across the world we know that a centre of prayer will be the corona virus pandemic. Thank you to Iain and Pat for the letter we all received yesterday where they encouraged us with the strength and hope of scripture, and the assurance of our faith in the Almighty:

“Let the joy of the Lord be our strength. He is our Rock and nothing takes the Lord by surprise.”

Every evening at 8.00 we are deeply touched by the applause that resonates from the balconies of our cities.

It is an open thanksgiving for the sacrifices made and dangers faced by all those working in the high risk areas of health care and public safety.

If you personally know a health worker or a police person, pray for them.

Think of the doctor who normally attends you, of the auxiliaries in the Albox medical centre, and pray for them.

Pray for their safety and wellbeing. Pray for their families. Pray for their salvation:

The Lord is God. There is no other.

The news reports update us daily with the still-increasing corona virus statistics. We know that God is greater than anything we may face, but how many people do not have that assurance?

This may be a time of testing, but for us it is a time of great possibility for evangelism. We encourage you to share your faith with those you talk with today.

Our prayer this morning is based on 1 Kings 8, and centred on v59 and 60:

The church sustains a WhatsApp Group – it’s a great way to keep in touch, learn quickly about any needs, and to update church notices.

We try to post a daily scripture, one that leads to discussion about what’s happening around us.

The corona virus and the ensuing quarantine restrictions are a pertinent example of how the ‘keep-in-touch’ and the ‘what’s-happening-this-morning?’ modules run together.
