A Small Church Online can reach just as far as a megachurch.

The gospel and our mandate of sharing it have not changed. What has changed is how we share.

From the day the lockdown started we took hold of technology and determined to use the internet for a good purpose – reaching out and connecting with one another.

For some it was a venture into unknown territory; for others it demanded work behind the scenes.

We’re a small church – OK.
We don’t have a team of teenagers to run our social media. OK.

Good News

The Good News 20-04-03

The news is not all doom and gloom. There are constant reports of good works, companies donating food, people helping neighbours – and of course the efforts of the medical workers, for whom we pray every night.

It is evident that the global crisis has brought a surge of unity. We see the world coming together, reaching out to help. And succeeding.

How much more should the church be doing the same! What an opportunity for the church of Jesus, brought together by the Holy Spirit, to come together to preach and to act.

Corona virus lockdowns are being implemented across the globe. If we can’t so much as go out on the streets, then how then are we to fulfil this absolutely clear mandate from Jesus?

There are a number of things we can be sure of:
This did not take the Lord by surprise.
Whatever the situation facing us, he never leaves us without a solution

There has been an absolute explosion of online church activity as churches adapt to social distancing with digital services.

We are seeing the technological advances of the world being used to spread the gospel in

The lockdown has just been extended for a further 15 days, which means we still have 3 weeks more (at least) of living as we are now: confined to our homes and separated from our normal social interactions.

Deuteronomy 31 speaks of Moses, and his words to Joshua, his successor. In v8 is a promise:

8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Every evening at 8.00 we are deeply touched by the applause that resonates from the balconies of our cities.

It is an open thanksgiving for the sacrifices made and dangers faced by all those working in the high risk areas of health care and public safety.

If you personally know a health worker or a police person, pray for them.

Think of the doctor who normally attends you, of the auxiliaries in the Albox medical centre, and pray for them.

Pray for their safety and wellbeing. Pray for their families. Pray for their salvation:

The Lord is God. There is no other.

The news reports update us daily with the still-increasing corona virus statistics. We know that God is greater than anything we may face, but how many people do not have that assurance?

This may be a time of testing, but for us it is a time of great possibility for evangelism. We encourage you to share your faith with those you talk with today.

Our prayer this morning is based on 1 Kings 8, and centred on v59 and 60:

Daily Scripture
